The artist Paolo Rossetto

“We have always been accustomed to dividing nature into three kingdoms: animal, vegetable, and mineral. Rossetto destroys the boundaries and barriers between these kingdoms to present us with a single universe of which we, too, are a part.”
(Giancarlo Mariani)
I was born on June 6, 1968, in Bolzano, under the sign of art. I began drawing as a child, copying female faces from comic books and fashion magazines, later blending them with natural elements such as trees and leaves.
Driven by the instinct for freedom shared by many artists, I abandoned my accounting studies to dedicate myself entirely to painting. Initially, my work focused on landscapes and still lifes through a figurative lens; however, my style eventually evolved toward a Surrealist language (the art of the fantastic).
I attended the State Art Institute in Trento, where I graduated in 1990 as a “Master of Applied Arts.” Following my artistic maturity, I moved further into Surrealism, creating an interplay between the real and surreal worlds while refining my attention to detail and pictorial techniques over the years. During my travels throughout Italy and abroad, I frequented museums and artists’ ateliers, nurturing my sensitivity toward art—marking the true beginning of my lifelong passion for drawing.
The most significant moments of my artistic career include participation in major exhibitions and the following recognitions:
• ARTinGENIO Museum, Officine Garibaldi (Pisa): My work is part of the permanent collection, and I have been a member of the museum since 2022.
• IV Triennial Exhibition of Visual Arts (Rome): Held at Palazzo Borghese and La Sapienza University, featuring the works Harmonic Balance (2021) and Crisalide (2014).
• 58th International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale: Featured with the work Harmonic Balance, for which I received a plaque of recognition for artistic merit (2019).
• Museo della Permanente (Milan): Member since 2007.
